INFLAMED
I awoke to a morning bursting with colour. It was as if the entire hillside had erupted in flames. I looked out over the trees, startled at the vivid hues, the autumn golds and russet reds.
I knew it wouldn’t last. These lustrous leaves were already dying and soon they would fall to the earth, covering the ground and exposing the naked limbs that once held them.
I couldn’t risk waiting. I couldn’t have them finding my little project just yet. I picked up my shovel and headed down the hill before whatever these trees had kept hidden was revealed.
OOO What did you find? Very intriguing!
ReplyDeleteOooh. The opener to a story I want to know more about! I'd keep reading. :)
ReplyDeleteWell that sure piques the curiosity ;) Wonder what your little project was?
ReplyDeleteI think the link you left on my page is wrong, it brought me to your other site but I remembered your flash is normally here so found you here, too.
Loved where you've gone with your dream house story!
Whoops! thanks for letting me know - I will fix it now!
ReplyDeleteAre you ready to come back? That was Sofia Day (Sophia Day's Pen) taking us in this new direction. Please come and take it away again, because it is really out there now!
Thanks again,
Laura
Thanks for your comment on my story - it meant I could find yours! As you say, they could almost be from the same piece. Great minds...
ReplyDeleteYou really pique the read'ers interest here. I want to know what happens next too!

Your little project? Oh, Linda, you have a spooky imagination. Remind me not to walk in your woods anytime soon. Lovely story and a nice interpretation of the prompt.
ReplyDeleteWe've run the gamut this week, haven't we? Who knew a landscape photo of Autumn would elicit so much.
Aloha,
Doug
Amazing, Ms Glamoura! Every cloud has a dark, grisly lining, every tree means danger with something wicked lurking. Very refreshing; you have style. This should be expanded into a fuller story.
